Do you that know many writers are making their career through online writing by submitting their articles to online publishers that needed their services? Unarguably, as many people are going to the internet daily, it’s now possible to create jobs for writers. How do we go about it?

In today’s article, I’m going to discuss how writers can make a living by being an online writer. The work of an online writer is to write article for online magazines or newspapers for publication. So, if you can write an interesting and valuable content, then you will get some ideas here to earn income from the internet.

1.      Selling an E-book

One of the key benefits of writing and selling content on internet is that it saves the cost of publishing since you can sell it as e- book. Creating an e-book will cost you little or no money from your pocket. Then you can sell your e-book at a cheaper rate and entice people to order for it.

Another interesting factor about e-book is that people searching the internet for specific solutions you are providing in your e-books to find your product from the search engines, if your website or blog is designed to attract engines and targeted visitors.

Presently, there are billions of searches every month on the search engines by people looking for information to overcome certain challenge. Before starting work on your e-book, you need to use online research tools to search for specific needs bothering people in order to create an e-book that will help them to solve their problems.

With the search tools, you will be able to know whether there are already websites or blogs that readily provided a solution on the problem on the internet. You will also know the marketing strategies the competitors are applying. This information will go a long way to help you build an effective marketing site that will give you completive edge over them.

2.     Creating Blog or Website

Creating jobs is possible for writers that own a blog or website targeting a particular audience of people. Your work is to write regular optimized content the way it’s been preferred in the search engines and satisfying to your readers. Your efforts will gradually start attracting visitors on a continuous basis to your blog or website.

3.      Blog or Website Advertising

How do you make your money from the visitors? There are several ways you can monetize the visitor to your blog or website. You can partner with Google or infolinks, the number of search engines in the world by displaying their clients’ advertisements on your site. When visitors click on the adverts, you earn a share from the money paid by the advertiser.

4.     Affiliates Marketing

You can market other people’s services or products that are relevant to your visitor and earn commissions. If visitors buy their products from your blog, you will earn commissions from the sales. This is known as an Affiliate.

5.     Paid For Writing Blogs

More website owners understand how internet works; they need good content to attract visitors. Also they know that without visitors visiting their site they can’t make sales therefore, they outsource their site content to experience writer, which are known as ghost writer on agreed fee to write article for them.

6.     Revenue Sharing Sites

These guys are known for creating jobs for writers. This is a site operating like article submission website with little or no difference. They display affiliate programme and advertise with articles on their sites.

When visitor click on an advert or buy affiliate products from the site, they share the income earned with the owner of the article. So they pay you the share of the income earned from advertisement and Affiliate programme display on your articles you have submitted to the sites.

7.     Running A Membership Site

If you’ve not come across the idea of membership sites before, they are site where people pay a monthly fee for as long they want to remain members. Of course, you can use a one-off membership fee, or a course that people pay for several months. What content will you provide on monthly basis?

In this site, you offer video or audio seminars, with an edited transcript plus a worksheet, and occasionally add in extras challenges (run through the forums) an e-course of varying length.

Keep in mind that committing to a monthly fee, even if there’s an option to cancel at any time, can be off-putting to potential customers. You want to keep the fee low enough that they won’t immediately cancel if they have a busy month or two and don’t manage to login.

 However, you’ll also need to consider how much time you’ll need to put in for each new member: e.g. helping them with any technical issues, responding to questions in your forums (if you have them) and so on.

 

8.    Coaching

Nowadays, one of the ways a writer can get a job is by coaching because of high demand for it. As a writer, start out by working with a few people for free, until you have  confident in charging for your coaching, and then worked one-on-one with paying clients over Skype. Almost every client wants writers to work with and booked for multiple sessions.

 

(It’s worth noting that, if you do want to do anything similar, you can use Skype to call landlines and mobiles. This is much cheaper for international calls than using your phone!)

How much does coaching make? A writer can make at least $79 for an hour-long session, then charged $79 for an 45 minute coaching session. Usually, one can spent around half an hour preparing for each session, reading the client’s work.

 

The price of coaching can vary enormously, and some writer's prices are definitely on the low end. I’ve seen some business coaches charge $500/hour or more. If you’ve got expertise in a particular area, coaching can be a great way to bring in a solid income with just a handful of clients.

 

For you as a writer to have streams of income, you need to write a worthy content that will meet the expectation of the online readers, and for you to have steady income will largely depends on the number of articles you  can write.
