DANCING WITH MY BROTHER

 Hey,

I welcome you all once again to this new week. I guess you had a wonderful weekend?

Mine was fantastic. As you can read from my blog post title “Dancing with my brother”, I’m   dedicating this blog post to my brother, Deputy Route Commander Anietiente-Abasi Ekpo, who quitted bachelorhood over the weekend. In today’s post, I‘ll give you an update of all the events that took place during the wedding.

Undoubtedly, it was pomp and pageantries as my brother walked down the aisle with his heartthrob, Itoro Akpabio. The wedding took place on Saturday, 5th of September, 2015 at the Luther Hall, the Headquarters of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Obot Idim Ibesikpo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
The wedding was well attended by Ekpo’s family, family’s friends, colleagues, Lutheran members, Obot Idim community, and well wishers. The ambience of the hall was quite colourful and electrifying.
 THE PROCESSING IN AND OUT

During the processing in, the Groom, who gorgeously dressed in with his FRSC official uniform like that  of military – brown Suit on white Shirt with a pair of black trousers and knot black tie. The band boys played a processing  Hymn “There shall be shadow of blessing”; the Groom then did a Military slow march, and stepped forward to the Altar.

Immediately after the Groom’s processing in, the Bride took her turn. The bridal train in a beautiful gowns, some in gold while others in wine colour, did wonderfully well by ushering in the Bride, who was brought to the Altar by Mr. Etuk and Mrs. Amandes, the bride’s sister. Also accompany the bride were the ministers of God including His Lordship Rt. (Rev.) E.D. Bassey.

THE SOLEMNIZATION
Mounting the Altar for the solemnization, the Clergy man Archbishop (Most Rev.) Christian Ekong, who is the President of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, preached a short sermon. He took the word of exhortation from book of provers18:22.

The Clergy-Man firstly commended the couple  for their humble beginning of the relationship the culminated into marriage. He noted that despite the fact that the couple are orphans; they started together when the both were teaching in Lutheran High School, Obot Idim. He advised the couple to imbibe what Dr. Martin Luther said concerning the marriage’s principle. Above all, they should love each other as they agree to stay together.

After the sermon, the couple was called out for exchange their marital vows, exchange of rings to show the symbol of love, and finally the signing of the dotted lines the bind them together as husband and wife. The newly couple was finally presented to the whole church. Meanwhile, the former President of the Church, Emeritus President S.J. Udofia was called upon to pray for the couple.

 THE RECEPTION
After the Church wedding, everybody moved to the event Centre at Nung Oku, where the reception took place. Immediate yours KEB stepped into the hall. It was like wow. The hall was well decorated in white and wine colours. The ambience of the hall was quite colourful and glowing. The invited quests took their sit comfortably in a decorated chairs and table.

While the DJ was entertaining the people with interlude of music, the caterers were busily entertaining people with food and drinks. There were a lot of foods and drinks to go around.

THE HIGH POINT
To me, the high point of the event was when the Groom was given sword by his colleagues from FRSC, Umuhia. According to the person who presented the sword, he said such gift can only be given to an Officer, who is seriously committed to his duty. It was a well-deserving gift in such occasion. ‘The Sword-gift ’presentation was done in military exercise that attracted applause from the guests.

CUTTING OF CAKE
The beautiful wedding cake was designed with wedding colour. The baker of the cake told to enlighten the people on the significance of those colours in the cake. Done with that, she made a proposal to the couple. She told the couple that she will count from One Hundred to one. That any number of children they wish to have, that they should cut the cake when that number is called.

However, when she called out number three, the couple unanimously cut the cake with a big sword that was given to Commander Ekpo to the admiration of the people. Also, cutting the cake after three was counted signified that they want to have three children.

DANCING STEPS
An American blues singer, Luther Vandross once sang an interesting song titled “Dancing with my father”. In my own case, I didn’t dance with my father; rather I ducked it out in dance floor with my brother.
In the dance floor, the couple displayed their styles in dancing to outweigh the other. They danced rhythmically to the flow of music dished out by the DJ. After a while, the dance floor was opened to others who flooded the place by trooping out to dance with the couple. It took the intervention  of the MC, Mr. Uyime Ekong, who advised the dancers to give the couple a breathing space, so that they will not be suffocated.

VOTE OF THANKS
As a saying goes “what have a beginning must have as end.” The beautiful reception came to an end. In his vote of thanks, the Groom thanked God for making that day a reality. Further speaking, he thanked the people for graciously attended the wedding. His unreserved gratitude went to the people, who contributed immensely in one way or the other to make the wedding successful.
