BLOG ON: Give The World A Piece Of Your Heart.

#Writer's life

I can recall vividly when I started my writing journey, I was looking for a platform to horn my voice so that people will hear me. Thanks to this technology – the internet that has brought me to this moment, where I can now give the world a piece of my heart.

Do you have something to say and cannot seem to find the right platform to say? Self-publish is the solution. Turn to the web and pour your heart there. Start a web also called blog-on online daily that gives you a loud voice in today’s information savvy world.

The revolution of this technology and the democratization of the media, and exciting new field- social media has emerged. Now, you can reach the world literarily from your little corner, speaking in no-hold bared style, as often as you want. You can publish text, pictures, music, and more. And with your internet-enabled GSM handsets, you can update your ‘publication’ as often as a new stream of thought prompt you to.

In today’s blog post, I am going to discuss blogging. As you know a blog- also known as a weblog- simply, is an online diary that allows you to document anything, any way you want. What to write? Your thoughts on anything without being gaged!

Generally, many bloggers decide, while telling their stories, to direct attention towards particular issues: From entertainment through sexually, technology, gossip, academic, identity, to religion and romance. Blogs often reflect the personalities of their owner.

It is about real people, in the real world. For instance, Linda Ikeji, a Nigerian Blogging Queen has carved out a niche for herself in the realm of blogging, and she stands out for her breaking News and entertainment blog posting.

Another young Nigerian writer that is making waves in the platform is Muhammed Tosin. This Lawyer-cum writer used his blog website as a tool to train and walk many aspiring writers through in the craft of writing, and encourage them to start writing.

In my own case, Kufre Ekpo's Blog is my personal blog website, and I blog about Writer's life (writing), Business and Start-up, Humanity, and Lifestyle. I am also going to use my website to write a lot of reviews on many products and services that I’m an affiliate too.

Many Bloggers, Creative Writers, and Copywriters around the globe have, however, use this platform to showcase their talents in creative writing and the same time make tons of cool money. Even renowned companies have blog sites with dedicated personnel to attend to the concerns, opinions, ideas, and questions from the blogging communities.

To many organizations, blogs provide critical views and free but vital opinion that help to shape marketing and corporate direction. They draw huge traffic to the sites and serve as a safe ground for pre-testing new policies, programme and much more.

In a typical blog, you can have a combination of texts, links of blog sites eg. http://googleblog.blogspot.com/, link to other web sites. Other variation of a blog now includes art (art log), photographs (photoblog), sketch blog, videos (vlog), music (mp3 blog), or audio (podcasting). They are all part of a wider network of social media.

Start a blog?

A blog is just for nerds. Anyone can have and keep a blog. It is easy to set up. In fact, there loads of site where you can have your blog site set up for free. Such sites include www.blogger.com,  www.wordpress.cometc.

All you have to do is to create a profile, choose a template and publish your entries as often as you desire. Get people to visit your blog site and respond to your reader’s comments. Simple. Depending on the content of your blog, you can make money online via your blog.

The priority then will be to build traffic to your blog site. This way, people have visibility of your blog site and can respond to its content or services accordingly.
Another idea to get traffic to your site is to visit other blogs and register your presence there, append your blog details to the signature of your emails. Huge traffic will translate into advertising revenue.
