Nobody Is Born A Natural Writer

Image
#Writer's Life Have you watched this movie - Natural Born Killers Starred by Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis before? If you haven't seen it or to refresh your memory, the film is about two serial killers who become tabloid sensations. The movie implies they were born killers. I don't know how true it is that killers are born, but I can tell you that in pursuing a writing career, there are not people among us who are natural-born writers . Yet, we hear it all the time "born to play basketball," or "born to play music," or "born to write." Now I'm sure some people will disagree with me, but let me suggest you read The Genius in All of Us by David Shenk. David lays out a great argument, filled with tons of scientific proof that natural-born talent is nothing more than a myth. You see, over the past several decades, tremendous strides have been made in genetic science. Shenk says that science is showing that enviro

The Fourth Pillar of B2B Writing Success

Undoubtedly, there are a lot of Copywriting jobs out there but to get grounded writers to execute these jobs is another issue to be discussed. However, one may ask what about the numerous writers that may have been searching for these writing jobs?   There is gain saying in the fact that the market is flooded with copywriters.   I’ll like to borrow a part from  Prof. Wole Soyinka’s literary works – The Trial of Brother Jero , in whic h a protagonist says “there are eggs and there are eggs”. This implies that in the field of copywriting, there are copywriters and there are copywriters. It depends on  the one  you are. Are you really a good or a bad copywriter?   Recently, a Marketing Director of a software company said: "Sure, there are a lot of writers out there, but few know how to write well. And fewer still can write strong B2B copy that engages our audience. In fact, we're still struggling to find someone who can do that."   I didn't make th

Indeed, it was a pathetic story to read of a woman who thrown her 6- month –old baby down in a sixth-floor building claiming that there is devil in her.     According to Daily News, Tenisha Fearson, 27, on Thursday, October 15, dangled her 6-month-old baby girl out a Bronx sixth-floor window, screaming "We are all going to die" Hallelujah" and Praise the Lord" before letting the child plunge to her death onto the concrete   below, police said. According to Tenisha's godmother Louella Hatch, as police were taking her away, she said “the devil is in her,” Neighbours described a chaotic scene before the sickening drop, with building residents yelling at the deranged naked woman when she began throwing household items out the window. They screamed in terror and called 911 when they saw her bring the baby to the window. "She threw a baby out the window!" one witness screamed. Then, in a bizarre, ritualistic scene, Fearon lay on the floor

The Bible says the heart of men is desperately wicked, who knows? Who could have thought that, a woman that is naturally supposed to have a soft-spot for a child will have such evil mind to harm her own son? This evil- woman was actually exposed by The Mississippi Press.   According to the press, a 26-year-old Zimbabweans woman, Nomatter Gava-Hudson stabbed her son three times in the abdomen in Mississippi on Monday, October 5, during an argument with her husband who screamed for help and got one from a passer-by who called 911.     According to Police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel, investigators learned that an argument took place between Gava-Hudson and her husband, the child’s father, during which Gava-Hudson became “belligerent,” brandished a knife and intentionally stabbed the child.     The child was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to the University of South Alabama Medical Centre where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

The Third Pillar of B2B Writing Success

Hey,  How are you doing? I hope you are doing great. Sorry, for more than two weeks now, you didn't get to hear from me. Actually I was not around. Now that I'm back , you 'll get to hear from me. I really missed you all. In my last blog post, I discussed The Second Pillar of B2B Writing Success , which has to do with Prospecting . Hopefully by next week, I'll round up with the series of four pillars of B2B Successful Writing.   Today, I'll talk about yet another important  pillar Of   B2B writing  - Become a linchpin for each client. Meanwhile, l et me share with you the tale of two B2B copywriters. The first copywriter, Bill, gets hired by a B2B company to write a web page. He gets the information he needs from his new client, writes the web page, and submits the copy. A week later, he sends his invoice. The second copywriter, Debra, gets hired by the same company to write an email. She gets the information she needs from her new client, b

The Second Pillar Of B2B Writing Success

Can you imagine how a marketing director of a business-to-business company is looking for a copywriter? The director has a project that would be perfect for you. In fact, he would hire you in a heartbeat. The only problem is …    … He doesn't know you exist.   And, it doesn't matter that you have a gorgeous website or that you blog like a maniac each week. He hasn't heard of you. So, he won't be calling you.   That's why the second pillar of B2B writing success is so important: Never stop prospecting.  Now when most writers think of prospecting, they conjure depressing images of making humiliating cold calls, or sending awkward emails to a list of strangers.   But prospecting really isn't like that.  Prospecting is simply introducing yourself and your services to companies that you suspect might have an interest in your services.   Think about that for a moment. You're not selling, you're introducing. And, you're no

Graphic credit: blog.markets.net   Hey, Welcome to another new week.   I promised last week that I’m going to share with  you the first pillar of B2B writing success, but I couldn’t do that. However, I want to use this medium to apologize. Hoping my apology is accepted. Well then, here is what I promised.   I hope my last week post really motivated you a bit to think how the four pillars of B2B can enhance your writing success , which are: 1.       Commit to a target market. 2.       Never stop prospecting. 3.       Become a linchpin for each client. 4.       Get really, really good at B2B writing.   Let's talk about the first pillar today, because I'm finding a lot of freelancers are confused about that one.   To find success as a B2B writer you need to focus on a target market, for the simple reason that it makes just about everything easier .   ·   Easier to find and land clients. ·   Easier to market and promote yourself. ·
